This article by Robert Scoble hits a little close to home. Apparently designers leave Microsoft because no one listens to them. At the university at which I work it is the same, no one listens to the designers and the IT department (which stinks - like a skunk) controls every dang thing. Ironically, the IT department thinks that everything Microsoft does is genius. Maybe that is why they are so similar? Anyway, the whole thing is frustrating. Maybe someday they will learn. Unfortunately they have less of a need to change than a company like Microsoft due to the fact that it doesn't matter how their technology looks, students will just be forced to use it.
